Custom Outdoor Living for Larger Lake Elmo Properties

In Lake Elmo, many homes have the space to do something more intentional than a basic backyard deck. A custom deck can create a better place for outdoor dining, relaxing, and hosting friends. A four-season porch can give your home a comfortable room that connects to the outdoors while adding protection from Minnesota weather.

For homes with acreage, wooded surroundings, golf course views, or newer construction, the design needs to feel balanced with the property. Scale matters. So do sightlines, access points, furniture layout, material choices, and how the finished space connects to the rest of the home.

At dREamodel, we start with how you want the space to feel and function. Then we shape the design around your home, your lot, and the details that will make the finished project enjoyable for years.

We received quotes from three different contractors and we could tell early on that Jon was the most knowledgeable and easiest to work with.

From start to finish the process was incredibly smooth. His showroom made it extremely easy to visualize and make choices for our 30'x16' three-season porch / deck combo.

A month later, they had all the permits, materials, and plans laid out and began construction. Thirteen business days after that, they had everything complete. I truly couldn't recommend them enough.

I cannot say enough amazing things about Jon and his team. Incredibly professional, communicated frequently to keep us informed, left the job clean every night, respected our home and were so friendly. Jon listened when we shared what we wanted to accomplish with this remodel. He never pushed us to do anything more than we planned. The craftsmanship was incredible! They got this job done in 2.5 weeks and it is beautiful. We have nothing to say on what could’ve been better. From start to finish, they were top notch. We highly recommend for all your remodel needs!

We talked with dREamodel regarding adding a 3 season sunroom to our house. Darren was extremely responsive and able to answer all of our questions. We met some of the dREamodel staff at their showroom in Maplewood and had the opportunity to see the products that would be used for our project. Very knowledgeable and customer focused. Past client references spoke highly of dREamodel, not just about the construction process but about the customer service provided. If you are considering an outdoor project for your house, reach out to Darren at dREamodel. You won’t be disappointed.

We had the pleasure of working with Darren Wagner, who truly made us feel like family rather than customers. He provided us with a wealth of information and several great options for our deck. Everyone at Dreamodel—from the office staff to the builders—was friendly, helpful, and patient throughout the entire process. We would absolutely work with them again on any future projects.

From the moment I contacted Dreamodel about our porch and deck project I was impressed. Within a few hours, a salesman, Darren, contacted me, and set up an appointment for the next morning. He appeared on time, listened to our vision for our project, took our written wish list seriously, and discussed options. He also noted a serious framing problem with our existing porch, and proposed a quick fix to bring it up to code.

The morning after we first met, Darren had produced a detailed proposal, which he then went over with me so that I understood exactly what was included. He invited us to the Dreamodel showroom which was built out with many of the products Dreamodel uses for their porch and deck projects. My husband and I were able to pick and choose among the products, quality, and materials. If something wasn't on display in the showroom, Darren found it for us. The biggest challenge was finding the right door for the porch. We wanted a double screen door from the existing screened porch to the new deck. Darren never gave up on that door, and finally found the perfect, though pricey option. We went for it and couldn't be happier.

Within a week of our first contact, we had negotiated a fixed price contract, including clearly marked estimates for specific line items like the door that might change during the course of the project. In the end, the project came in within two hundred dollars of the contract amount, and we have exactly what we wanted. The craftmanship and materials are top quality, the design is beautiful, and the process was transparent.

We were particularly impressed by several things we'd never encountered before, even though we've dealt with contractors many times in the past. First, Darren's bid was broken down into discreet subprojects such as demolition, construction of the new deck, and renovation of the existing porch, with each sub-project line item including labor and materials so we could pick and choose what we had to have and what we could do without. Second, Darren's bid was the lowest of six that we got -- in two cases, less than 35% of the highest bids -- yet there were no shortcuts, and the quality was impeccable. Third, there were no surprises. Darren stayed with the project throughout, and was always available to answer questions. He came to the job site nearly every day, and was our main point of contact throughout the project. Having the salesperson intimately involved with all phases of the project is a unique approach, and worked extremely well for us.

It is rare to choose the lowest bidder on a project, and be completely happy with the results, but that is what we experienced with Dreamodel, Darren, and the Dreamodel crew.

We had a great experience from start to finish with a deck & concrete patio. Darren was responsive, answered my questions, and delivered a great product. dREamodel does not cut corners, they do not cheap out, and they only work with individuals who they trust. Could we have possibly found a lower quote? Possibly. However, for us, it was worth the cost to go with a trusted, reliable company…especially with this investment. Totally recommend!

Darren was the catalyst that got us us interested in dREmodel for replacing our cedar deck. Without his engagement we would never had gone ahead and spent on a new composite deck. His guidance was expertly spot on. He brought his A team and they had most everything done in three hard days of work. It's a beautiful product, Dekorator brand, suggested by Darren. The Sedona color makes the black railings really stand out. Matt had to cut 23 step stringers by hand. It looks great! Love it! A couple concerns we're taken care of immediately and to my satisfaction. I am picky. Thanks Darren, Matt, John and crew for a beautiful deck, and for making my life easier. I don't have to power wash or get on my hands and knees to stain any more!.

We had a great experience with Darren and his crew. They built a deck, did stamp concrete, and got us an electrician for our hotub. The backyard has become a place of peace. We really enjoy the beauty and workmanship dREamodel provided!

Designed With the Details in Mind

A deck or porch should add to the home, not compete with it. dREamodel focuses on thoughtful planning, durable materials, and finish details that help the completed space feel intentional. Whether the project is a custom deck, a porch enclosure, or a four-season addition, our goal is to create something that looks right, works well, and feels comfortable from the first season.

Deck and Porch Ideas for Lake Elmo Homes

When you are planning a deck or porch for your Lake Elmo home, your property should guide the design. A home near a park reserve, a golf course community, or a newer master-planned neighborhood may each need a different approach.

If you live near North Star, Wildflower at Lake Elmo, or Easton Village, your project may focus on creating an outdoor living space that fits newer construction, walkable neighborhood layouts, and everyday family use. A custom deck or porch can add more room for gathering while still feeling connected to the home’s architecture.

For homes near Lake Elmo Park Reserve, Sunfish Lake Park, Sally Manzara Interpretive Nature Center, or quieter roads with larger lots, the design may need to work with mature trees, natural views, and a more private backyard setting. A composite deck can reduce maintenance, while a four-season porch can create a comfortable place to enjoy the scenery through more of the year.

In communities such as The Royal Club, Hidden Meadows, Savona, Highland Meadows, Tartan Meadows, Inwood, and Whistling Valley, homeowners often want outdoor spaces that feel elevated and custom. dREamodel designs decks, screened porches, porch enclosures, and four-season additions with those details in mind, creating spaces that fit the home, the property, and the way you want to live.

Planned Around Space, Views, and Everyday Use

Your deck or porch should make your property easier to enjoy. For some Lake Elmo homeowners, that means a spacious deck with room for grilling, dining, and relaxing after a day outside. For others, it means a four-season porch where you can enjoy wooded views, golf course scenery, or a quiet backyard without feeling limited by weather.

As a deck builder and porch builder serving Lake Elmo, dREamodel plans each project around your home’s layout, the scale of your lot, and the way you want the space to function throughout the year.

Custom Decks for Lake Elmo Homes

A custom deck can give your home a more natural connection to the outdoors. It can create room for entertaining, improve traffic flow, and make a large backyard feel more usable.

For Lake Elmo homeowners, custom deck design may include a low-maintenance composite deck, a multi-level layout, a larger dining area, or a design that works around trees, slopes, and views. The right deck should feel comfortable and proportional to the home.

dREamodel designs and builds custom decks with daily use in mind. We consider stair placement, railings, furniture zones, shade, access from the home, and how people will move through the space. The finished deck should feel organized, attractive, and built for long-term enjoyment.

Four-Season Porches and Porch Enclosures

A porch can add a new kind of comfort to your Lake Elmo home. Instead of relying only on perfect-weather days, a four-season porch or porch enclosure can give you a flexible space for relaxing, hosting, reading, or enjoying the view.

For homes with larger lots or scenic surroundings, a porch can become one of the best rooms in the house. It gives you a protected place to enjoy natural light, backyard views, and time with family without dealing with insects, rain, wind, or colder temperatures.

dREamodel designs porch spaces that feel connected to the rest of the home. We consider rooflines, windows, flooring, heating and cooling needs, natural light, exterior materials, and how the porch will be used day to day.

Deck Replacements and Outdoor Living Upgrades

Older decks and porches may not match the size, style, or function of your home anymore. A deck may feel too small for entertaining. A railing layout may interrupt the view. Materials may require more maintenance than you want. An existing porch may not offer the comfort or flexibility your household needs.

dREamodel helps Lake Elmo homeowners rethink outdoor living spaces with composite decking, improved layouts, porch enclosures, railing updates, and design changes that make the space easier to enjoy.

For larger properties, these upgrades can make a meaningful difference. A better layout can improve how guests move through the space. Better materials can reduce maintenance. A more intentional design can help the outdoor living area feel like part of the home.

A Design Process Built for Custom Projects

Custom outdoor living projects need more than a quick sketch. The finished space needs to fit the home, support the way you entertain, and respect the setting around the property.

dREamodel guides homeowners through design, material selection, scheduling, and construction with clear communication at each step. Our team helps you think through the big decisions and the small details, from layout and materials to how the space will feel once it is complete.

We work to keep the process organized, practical, and respectful of your home

Built for Minnesota Seasons and Larger Lots

A Lake Elmo deck or porch needs to handle Minnesota weather without losing the comfort and style that make the space worth using. That means planning for drainage, shade, airflow, structural performance, material durability, and how the space will hold up over time.

Those details matter even more when the project is part of a larger property. A deck may need to support frequent entertaining, outdoor meals, and a smooth connection to the yard. A porch may need to frame wooded views, add year-round comfort, or create a quiet space that feels separated from the main activity of the home.

dREamodel helps homeowners compare the right approach for the way they want to live outside. Some projects call for a refined composite deck with generous gathering space. Others benefit from a four-season porch that adds comfort, natural light, and a stronger connection to the property.

Instead of forcing the same layout onto every home, we create custom solutions shaped around the house, the lot, and the way the finished space will be used.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a custom deck or porch project usually take?

Timelines depend on the size of the project, design details, material selections, permitting, and weather. Many projects move through design, planning, and construction over several weeks. Larger custom builds or four-season porch additions may take more time.

Do you build composite decks in Lake Elmo?

Yes. dREamodel designs and builds composite decks for Lake Elmo homeowners who want a durable, lower-maintenance outdoor living space. We can help you compare decking, railing, and finish options based on your home and goals.

Can you design a four-season porch?

Yes. Our team designs four-season porches for homeowners who want a more comfortable room that still connects to the outdoors. We consider layout, windows, rooflines, natural light, materials, and how the space will be used throughout the year.

What should I consider for a larger lot or custom home?

Think about scale, views, access from the home, furniture layout, shade, privacy, and how people will move through the space. dREamodel can help you plan a deck or porch that fits the property instead of feeling undersized or disconnected.
